About

I wanted to write a book on this subject and thought, creating a blog would be an easier option. I must admit that this is not actually a blog. This is a "Blook" - a Book in the form of a Blog! Watching aquarium fish has proven health benefits, including reducing blood pressure, enhancing mood, relieving stress and many more. As an element of relaxation, nothing beats water. It is natural, soft, and transparent. And, if there are exotic and colorful fishes in the tank, it adds to the joy of the experience. One of the most soothing and rewarding hobbies is maintaining a fish tank. Being in the aquarium hobby is fun, rewarding and therapeutic (health-stimulating in nature).

It feels so good. It is just a wonderful experience to have a piece of magnificent nature very much inside your home or office. An aquarium is a small replica of the fishes’ natural habitat. I love aquariums and fishes. This blog is for all the aquarium-lovers. This is worth going through if you have an aquarium or want to get started with an aquarium. In this blog, I have described some tricks and tips, lessons I learnt from the mistakes I committed, some instances of innovation, some very interesting and exciting experimentation and some valuable experiences. I hope, beginners as well as experienced Fish-keepers will find the aspects discussed and described in this blog helpful and interesting. Not creating this blog was an option easier to choose. But, I thought, it would be really worth the effort and definitely serve the purpose.

I am a Lean Living Practitioner. I believe in sustainability.  My goal has been to create an aquarium that has the following attributes. It should mimic the nature as closely as possible. It should be self-sustained to a great extent. That is, it should have the least number of external dependencies (Filter, Air Stone, Power Head, Air Pump and Heater etc.). It should require the least amount of human intervention. However, it should, ultimately keep the inhabitants healthy and happy! So that, I get a lot of free time to relax and enjoy my aquarium and fishes. And, my fishes get a chance to enjoy their environment to the maximum extent without being stressed due to human and external interventions. It is about making our lives better and making the lives of our fishes better, for a better tomorrow. I learnt all these the hard way. However, you do not have to learn it that way!

Maintaining an aquarium may be really easier than you think and much involved than it appears. You just need to do the right things and do that right. It is more an art than science and a beautiful mixture of both. I strongly believe, you will find the information provided in this blog really easy to use in your very own context. My intention is to make life easier for you when it comes to maintaining an aquarium. I also sincerely want to make life better for your fishes. This blog, by design, is less prescriptive. Not only does it try to portray the practical side of Aquarium Maintenance and Fish-keeping, but also the psychological and emotional sides of a typical aquarist. Aquariums and fishes are a great stress-reliever. When our lives have become so hectic, stressful and mechanical, this hobby provides a grand respite. Useful pieces of information (Do’s and Don’ts) are presented wrapped in event-based stories. I hope, you find these stories interesting.

Especially, if you have a Fishbowl or you want to get started with a Fishbowl, this blog is a must-read for you! I would really appreciate your valuable comments and feedback. I wish you all the very best. Thanks for your interest. You have a wonderful day ahead.

Regards,
